| Work and Travel Program Seasonal Full-Time Staffs 10 - 16 weeks Please read information in the following link for more information about this program http://exchanges.state.gov/education/jexchanges/private/swt.htm Rules & Regulations Winter: middle of November to middle of March. Spring: middle of March to middle of June. Summer: middle of June to end of September. Fall: end of September to middle of December Work & Travel allows eligible students to work in the USA for a maximum of 4 months and to travel at the end of their working period for up to a maximum of 30 days. All Work & Travel participants must note that they can only work and travel within the program dates. Work & Travel participants may only work between the dates shown on the DS-2019. Working outside of these dates is ILLEGAL. If a participant breaks this rule, they are likely to be arrested and the full consequences of US Law will then be applied. 30-Day Rule You are authorized to stay in the U.S. 30 days after the ending date of the program for the purpose of domestic travel within the U.S. The ending date of your program is four months from the date of your entry into the U.S. The last day you are allowed to work is written on your DS- 2019. You must stop working on this date, but may remain in the U.S. to travel for 30 days. If you travel out of the U.S. during this 30 day period you may not be able to re-enter, so please use this period for domestic travel only. Participants who remain after the 30-day period without proper authorization are subject to arrest and deportation. In addition, violation of immigration regulations may seriously jeopardize the possibility of obtaining any type of U.S. visa in the future. Extending Your Stay It is difficult to extend your stay in the U.S. beyond the end of the program. The Work & Travel program is only authorized to operate during designated periods. When you join this program, you do so with the agreement that you would leave the U.S. upon its termination, and the U.S. government expect you to honor this agreement. Changing status is complicated and, in most cases, impossible. Work Status Reports The Work Status Report is a form that must be filled out by all Work & Travel USA participants. It gives us information on where to reach you in an emergency and enables us to use your comments about your job for future Work & Travel participants from your country. It is a PROGRAM REQUIREMENT that all participants complete these forms upon arrival and whenever you change employers or change housing. Important Documents When you enter the U.S. under the Work & Travel program, you enter under the status of a "J-1 Exchange Visitor". This gives you the right to work legally in the U.S. under the terms of the program. When coming through immigration at the airport, you will need to show the following documents to the Immigration Officer.
Immigration Procedure As a guest in the U.S., it is important that you cooperate fully with the Immigration Officer and answer all questions clearly and respectfully. The officer may ask you for some general details about your visit. You will also show the officer the documents listed above. The procedure for entering the U.S. is as follows:
